California Democratic congressman will hold ‘Millennial Town Hall’ in Omaha

“WASHINGTON — A Democratic congressman from California is headed to Omaha for events targeting young people.

Rep. Eric Swalwell is chairman of the Future Forum, an effort by Democrats to connect on issues important to millennials, from rising student loan debt to a decline in entrepreneurship.”

“Ashford, who is seeking his old seat this election cycle, said the event is an opportunity to connect with young people on issues ranging from health care to hurdles in starting a new business. “It seems right now that government is so disconnected from the real problems of that age group.”

Kara Eastman, Ashford’s opponent in the Democratic primary, plans to attend the event with her 16-year-old daughter and Central High School’s senior class president. “The issue that I hear millennials talk about most are their student loans. They are drowning in debt.””
