Mike Forsythe, a supervisor at the Omaha Box Co. since 1979, announced he will be a candidate for the Nebraska Public Service Commission.
Forsythe, a Democrat, will seek the 3rd District seat held by Tim Schram, a Republican who is seeking re-election next year.
“The commission needs new leadership who can ensure we have reliable 911 services and that taxpayer money is spent responsibly,” Forsythe said.
“The people deserve a better advocate,” he said.
Forsythe said he is a strong community advocate who has coached youth basketball and worked with the Burmese refugee popuation to help them transition to life in Nebraska.
The district is composed of Sarpy, Saunders, Washington and western Douglas County.
