“The number of women seeking elective office in the United States is rising at every level of government, according to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers. Many of these women are running as challengers.
A number of women in Nebraska have already announced they are running: Jane Raybould, Kara Eastman and Jessica McClure are running to represent Nebraska in Congress in 2018. Krystal Gabel is running against Gov. Pete Ricketts in the Republican primary.
Challengers for seats in the Nebraska Legislature include Jackie Collet, Machaela Cavanaugh, Megan Hunt and Mina Davis. Christa Yoakum and Charise Grimes are both making bids for the Nebraska Public Service Commission. Barbara Weitz is seeking a seat on the all-male NU Board of Regents.”
