“Many of you already know me, but mine is the only name on the ballot in the election for the northeast Omaha seat for the Board of Governors at Metro Community College (District 2). First, let me ask for your vote and support.
Second, for those who don’t know me, here’s a little background. I actually filed for this office because I believe Metro Community College plays a vital role in our community. Our community college is key to economic development, essential job training, expanding partnerships with labor trades, lifelong learning, and an affordable higher education opportunity for thousands of people in our region. I also have experience as someone who has taken classes at the college.
I am new to running for office, but not new to public service. I was appointed by Mayor Suttle to serve on the board of Metro Area Transit Agency, where I’ve worked hard to expand access to better transportation for our riders, particularly in areas of great need, like North Omaha. I believe my service speaks for itself, and I am humbled and grateful to have the endorsement of Jim Suttle in this election.
Metro Community College is boldly moving forward to an exciting future. In a field crowded with write-in challengers, I believe I remain the only candidate prepared to serve Metro Community College looking forward rather than back. If you believe this election is about our shared future, I ask for your vote.”
