Elkhorn reader endorses Bill Armbrust

I am writing in support of Bill Armbrust for state senator of Legislative District 39, which encompasses Elkhorn, Valley, Waterloo, suburbs west of Millard and rural towns west to the Platte River. It is a richly diverse district, encompassing traditional Nebraska vistas and newer suburban amenities. I am a Republican and I believe Bill Armbrust – a Democrat – is the best candidate to represent all the people who live here.
I have known Bill and his family for many years. You could not find a better family with true Nebraska values – hard work and honesty. I was also raised in a farming family and remember when Elkhorn was a town of 700 people. I am supporting Bill because I know that he is not running for legislature to represent the interests of one group. He cares deeply about this community and all of its resident – rural and suburban.
Our legislature has always tried to be non-partisan, meaning elected officials should debate issues, not vote on party lines. I know that Bill Armbrust will live up to this tradition and be a bridge between parties and between differing viewpoints.
As a man who has spent his entire life in this area, he cares deeply about the future. Recently, Bill wrote an article that asked the question, “What is the most valuable product of rural Nebraska and Kansas? It’s our kids.” Education is one of the most important investments we make in the future. I know that Bill takes this responsibility seriously and will continue Nebraska’s tradition of preparing our youth for the future.
Bill Armbrust deserves your vote. He has mine. Larry Peterson, Elkhorn
