On Healthcare and Medicaid Expansion

 

WHEREAS, 97,000 people in Nebraska live without insurance, either because they

make too much money or don’t earn enough to quality for subsidies; and,

WHEREAS, everyone has the right to receive healthcare, no matter what their

financial circumstances; and,

WHEREAS, Medicaid expansion and eventually single-payer healthcare will mean

that everyone will have coverage, that paperwork will decrease, that

healthcare planning will be much easier for individuals and families; and

that costs for direct medical care will decrease substantially;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Douglas County Democratic Party concentrate

all possible energy on expanding Medicare in Nebraska; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Douglas County Democratic Party work to

assure Nebraska will become the 33rd state to expand Medicaid, and will

in the near future be one of 50 states to establish Medicare for All.
