“The Learning Community property tax rate will go up next year to fund programs aimed at helping metro-Omaha poor and immigrant kids succeed in school.
Members of the Learning Community Coordinating Council voted to increase the levy to 1.5 cents per $100 of valuation, the maximum under state law. The rate will rise from 1.4 cents.
The increase of one-tenth of a cent will raise about $558,000 for the district.
For the owner of a $150,000 house, it will add $1.50 in property taxes, bringing the bill to $24.38 a year.
David Moon, the Learning Community’s finance director, said the impact to the average homeowner’s pocketbook was “about a soda.””
